This shredder has a lot going for it. First of all I compared it to my regular shredder (which does not have a cd shredder). The cd shredder is a cool feature by the way. It claims to be able to shred 8 pages at once - which I don't recommend doing in any shredder. The paper is top loaded (totally verticle) and I found this easier than my older shredder which is a bit more horizontal. I found this product to be simple and easy to operate - totally recommend - 5 Stars!
And since I am an avid Amazon Prime shopper, I decided to try this particular shredder. And boy, was I very surprised! The very first thing I noticed was how much quieter it is than Fellowes. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the fact that the Fellowes shredder cuts 11 sheets vs 8 sheets on this Amazon brand. But do 3 sheets of paper make that HUGE motor sound difference? I don't think so!
This shredder cuts flawlessly and smoothly just like Fellowes. The difference is the cut width. I purchased the "strip-cut" paper Amazon shredder so as expected, the paper width post cut is not as narrow as the "cross-cut". I have tried shredding credit cards and bank info using this and have not had any issues with regard to still being able to decipher valuable information. I have not tried shredding CDs on it yet so I can not comment on that.
This was a gift to my wife for Christmas. We have always wanted one but there is an overwhelming number of these things out there. This has been fun to use and has "delivered" us from credit cards that we we were happy to see go bye-bye. It is strong and will shred a packet of papers pretty easily. We have shredded cell phone bills that are often more then 5 pages, and plenty of old bills and envelopes and holiday cards. It does not have a huge basket so if you own a law firm or are a paper-shredding secratary I'd reccomend getting a larger shredder.
